Annapurna Royal Trek

Annapurna Royal Trek is one of the shortest trekking destinations in the Annapurna region of Nepal located in the western part of Nepal. The region of Annapurna is popular for trekking in Nepal and has been followed by many visiting tourists from different parts of the world. Annapurna Royal Trek with the Royal Heritage Trek is a eight day itinerary which starts off with a picturesque drive to the city of Pokhara from the Capital city of Kathmandu. The real trekking then begins from Pokhara as you start your hike to the surrounding region of Annapurna. Annapurna Royal Trek got its name from British Prince Charles who came with his friends and trekked along the region in the early eighties. Since then, the itinerary is more popularly known as Royal Trek. Prince Charles’s visit helped immensely to increase the popularity of the trek as many domestic and international tourists became attracted to it after his royal visit.
The maximum elevation which the visitors will come across during the course of Royal Trek will be around 2300 meters of altitude. The panoramic view of the Mountains and the Himalayas including the ones of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, among others, and the settlement areas and the villages of the local living in the region are also the highlights of the trek. The trekkers will also have the chance to learn about the way of life of the people living in the region which should be of the interest of the visiting tourists. The trail also follows a thinly inhabited settlement area, passing through the local communities and villages, the local people and their indigenous culture. The word Annapurna originates from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘goddess of the harvests’.
Royal Trek is almost ideal for the ones who do not have much prior experience of trekking as the trekking is very mild and does not necessitate much physical fitness. It is also favourable for older people and children as the altitude you cover during the trek will just be around 2300 meters. The Royal Trek begins with a wonderful drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The best time for the trekking is during September and November and also during March and May. However, the trekking can be performed all round the year.
