Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek is a beautiful trekking itinerary in the Langtang region of Nepal which is situated towards the northern part of the central part of the country. Langtang Valley is one of the beautiful valleys in the country and Langtang Valley Trek is a wonderful opportunity for the trekkers to come across and learn more about the Langtang Valley. It is an adventure to one of the most beautiful valleys in Nepal and also the entire the world known for its natural beauty and trekking adventure.  The beautiful Langtang Valley is also popularly called as the Valley of glaciers as it is full of Himalayan glaciers and lakes formed from the origin of Himalayas. Langtang Valley Trek is a 12-day itinerary with the Royal Heritage Trek as it takes the trekkers to the realms of the mountains and allows them the views of snow-capped mountains, along with the chance to learn more about the local culture of the region. Also because of the fact that it is situated nearby from the capital city of Kathmandu, Lantang Valley Trek can be considered as the third most popular trekking destination in Nepal after Annapurna and Everest region.
Langtang Valley Trek is a mixed trekking itinerary as it is a beautiful combination of cultural trekking along with the adventures of natural sightseeing and Himalayan trekking. The trail along Langtang Valley passes through the remote villages of Tamang and Sherpa community. Their old culture, traditions and their typical way of life are the other highlights of the trekking as the trekkers can add freshness to their trip. The forests of pine, oak and rhododendron, along with the prospect of bird watching is another highlight of the trip for the trekkers. Langtang Valley also offers one of the finest views of Langtang Himal, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, among other peaks.    
Langtang Valley Trek begins with an 8-hour long scenic drive to Syabrubesi from the capital city of Kathmandu. From Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek, the trail advances further into the Langtang Valley, the trekkers in between coming across to the places like Langtang National Park and the popular Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to hotel
You will be welcomed by our representatives there at the Airport upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You will then be transferred to the Hotel where you will be briefed about the travel itinerary. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu 
On the second day of the itinerary package, you will be engaged in the sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. After finishing breakfast at the Hotel in the morning, you will begin the sightseeing tour visiting the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur and enjoying the ancient art and architecture of the monuments. Likewise, the tourists can also visit the Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Temple and also the Bouddhanath Stupa which are important destinations for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You will return back to the Hotel in the evening.

Day 3 – Drive to Syabrubesi 
The next day, you will have breakfast in the morning at the hotel and then head to a scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway to Syabrubesi, following the serpentine road along the Trishuli River. You will reach Syabru Besi, the starting point of the trek, after around 6 hours of drive watching scenic views along the way. Syabru Besi is full with hotels and guesthouses and you will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4 – Trek to Lama Hotel
The next day the trekkers will descend further down the trail, crossing Ghopche Khola (a small river) and then a couple of Tamang villages before reaching Rimche village. Rimche is a wonderful village located at 2400 m altitude. Walking further down the trail and crossing more forests, we will ultimately reach Lama Hotel, our destination for the day. Lama Hotel is a popular place for stopping by amongst the tourists who come here in Lantang region for trekking. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 5 –Trek to Langtang Valley
Leaving behind Lama Hotel on the fifth day, the trekkers will then ascend along the uphill trail studded with maples, oak, Rhododendron and pine forests. Before reaching Langtang Valley, you will have chances to see local flora and fauna like white monkeys and other local birds. After a short while, you will reach Ghora Tabela (2970 m). Lowering further down to Thangshyap (3140 m), the trail ascends all the way to the Langtang Village which is the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. From the village, you can have 180-degree views of the mountains including Mount Lirung, Mount Langtang, among others.

Day 6 –Trek to Kyanjin Gompa
Chasing the inclined path uphill, the track advances forth small settlements of Sindum and Yamphu (3640 m) and crosses Laja Khola to arrive at a viewpoint with excellent views of Kyanjin Gompa and icefall from Lirung and Kinshung. Descending through the point will in the end bring us down to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m). The old Buddhist monastery in Kyanjin Gompa is popular amongst the trekkers in the Langtang region.

Day 7 – A day of hiking and rest day in Kyanjin Gompa
The next day, you will be taking rest at Kyanjin Gompa for the purpose of acclimatization and also visit around the area. The Buddhist monastery in Kyanjin is very popular and will be one of the major attractions for the day. The trekkers can even plan for a short trek to the local cheese factory in the afternoon or climb Kyanjin Ri to enjoy the views of Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung and other majestic mountains of the Langtang region.

Day 8 – Trek to Lama Hotel
Eighth day marks the beginning of the return trip as we will return following the same trekking trail back to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa. The trail follows downhill path from Kyanjin Gompa and after several hours of walking we finally arrive at the Lama Hotel where we had stayed earlier during the trip.

Day 9 – Trek to Syafrubesi
Traversing the different Sherpa and Tamang villages and green hills, we will make our way to Syabru Besi which is a wonderful little village town located at 1600 m altitude. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Syabru Besi.

Day 10 – Drive to Kathmandu
The next day, we will return back to Kathmandu after 8-hour long scenic drive from Syabru Besi enjoying the pleasant views of river, mountains and paddy fields along the way. After reaching Kathmandu, you will then be transferred to the hotel and say overnight there at the hotel. You will be served a farewell dinner there at the Hotel at night in the presence of our entire team. If you are lucky, you will also be able to get the glimpse of Nepali cultural dance.

Day 11 –Free day in Kathmandu
On the second last day of the Langtang Valley trekking itinerary, the visitors have the option of having complete rest at the Hotel or else stroll the streets of Thamel and Basantapur Durbar Square and buy souvenirs for your loved ones back home. You can even enjoy rickshaw ride in the streets of Basantapur. You will return back to Hotel in the evening.

Day 12 – Departure from Kathmandu
On the last day of the itinerary, you will be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from where you can return back to your home country or to your next destination.
