Tamang Heritage Trail

Tamang Heritage Trail is a relatively newly opened trekking itinerary in the popular Langtang region of Nepal situated in the northern-central region of the country nearby from the Capital City of Kathmandu. Tamang Heritage Trail is gaining quick popularity amongst the visiting trekkers as it is situated in close proximity with the Capital City. Tamang Heritage Trail with the ‘Royal Heritage Trek’ is a 12-day long trekking itinerary which takes the trekkers through several Tamang Villages of the Langtang Valley. The hospitality and warm behavior of the local Tamang people of the region is one of the highlights of the trek. Besides the normal attractions of the adventures of trekking in Nepal, Tamang Heritage Trail will also provides the additional benefit of learning more about the local tradition, culture, and the lifestyle of the native people of the region.
During the course of the trek, the trekkers will walk past several old monasteries or the Gompas in the region, the Tamang settlement areas and villages, appreciating the rich natural beauty of the Langtang Valley and the Mountains including the Mount Lirung, Mount Dorje Lakpa, Mount Langtang, Ganesh Himal, etc. Henceforth, Tamang Heritage Trail is a combination of both natural sightseeing and adventure trekking.
Tamang Heritage Trail commences with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to the town of Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is the starting point of the trek, and the trail passes through several Tamang villages before returning back to the village town of Syabrubesi. The best season for Tamang Heritage Trail is between March-May and September-December. The maximum height the trekkers reach during the trek is around 2400 meters and it is a moderate trekking as the trekkers do not have to come across the problem of high altitude sickness. 
 
Outline Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to hotel
Day 2- Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Day 3 –Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi
Day 4- Trek to Gatlang
Day 5- Trek to Tatopani
Day 6- Trek to Thuman
Day 7 –Trek to Timure
Day 8- Trek to Briddim
Day 9 –Trek to Syabrubesi
Day 10 –Drive back to Kathmandu
Day 11 – Free day in Kathmandu
Day12 – Departure from Kathmandu 
Costs included in the price:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to hotel
You will be welcomed by our representatives there at the Airport upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You will then be transferred to the Hotel where you will be briefed about the travel itinerary. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu 
On the second day of the itinerary package, you will be engaged in the sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. After finishing breakfast at the Hotel in the morning, you will begin the sightseeing tour visiting the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur and enjoying the ancient art and architecture of the monuments. Likewise, the tourists can also visit the Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Temple and also the Bouddhanath Stupa which are important destinations for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You will return back to the Hotel in the evening.

Day 3 – Drive to Syabrubesi 
The next day, you will have breakfast in the morning at the hotel and then head to a scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway to Syabrubesi, following the serpentine road along the Trishuli River. You will reach Syabru Besi, the starting point of the trek, after around 6 hours of drive watching scenic views along the way. Syabru Besi is full with hotels and guesthouses and you will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4- Trek to Gatlang
Your trekking begins on the fourth day when you start walking from Syabrubesi after having breakfast at the guesthouse in the morning. Gatlang is a beautiful Tamang Village that is located at an altitude of 2240 meters height. Around 5 hours of walking from Syabrubesi is enough for the trekkers to reach the village of Gatlang. In Gatlang, the trekkers can visit a Tibetan monastery (Gompa) and also the Parvati Kunda Lake.

Day 5- Trek to Tatopani
The next morning, you will be descending to Thangboche located along Bhote Koshi River, next to Chilime Village. Ascending uphill for a brief period of time will lead the trekkers to a natural hot-water spring also known as Tatopani. Taking dip in Tatopani will help in curing several skin ailments and diseases, it is believed.  En route, you will also have views of Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal.

Day 6- Trek to Thuman
After breakfast on the sixth morning, the trekkers will proceed further to Nagthali Danda which is located at 3300m of altitude. You will enjoy the scenic views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, among others, from the hilltop before lowering down through the hill all the way to Thuman which is a Tibetan Village in Langtang. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Thuman.

Day 7 –Trek to Timure
On this day, you will head to Timure via Rasuwagadhi which is an ancient fort used by Nepal government during its war against the Tibetans. Leaving Rasuwagadhi behind, the trekkers will head for Timure which is the village heavily influenced by Tibetan culture. Timure also serves as an old trade route to Tibet.

Day 8- Trek to Briddim
It will take around 6 hours of walking from Timure to reach the village of Briddim which is a Tamang Village. The natives here are the direct descendants of ancient Tibetan immigrants who came here from Tibet. Home stay facility is also available in the Village of Briddim. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 9 –Trek to Syabrubesi
Early in the morning on the ninth day after having tea and breakfast, we will head towards north along the Bhote Koshi River and pass through paddy fields. Later, the trekkers will lower down to Syabrubesi. It will take around 4 to 5 hours to return back to Syabrubesi from Briddim. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 10 –Drive back to Kathmandu
The next day, we will return back to Kathmandu after 8-hour long scenic drive from Syabru Besi enjoying the pleasant views of river, mountains and paddy fields along the way. After reaching Kathmandu, you will then be transferred to the hotel and say overnight there at the hotel. You will be served a farewell dinner there at the Hotel at night in the presence of our entire team. If you are lucky, you will also be able to get the glimpse of Nepali cultural dance.

Day 11 – Free day in Kathmandu
On the second last day of the trekking itinerary, the visitors have the option of having complete rest at the Hotel or else stroll the streets of Thamel and Basantapur Durbar Square and buy souvenirs for your loved ones back home. You can even enjoy rickshaw ride in the streets of Basantapur. You will return back to Hotel in the evening.

Day 12 – Departure from Kathmandu
On the last day of the itinerary, you will be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from where you can return back to your home country or to your next destination.
